Children's Department

We Believe:
  • All children are musical.
  • Music nurtures a child´s cognitive, emotional, social, language, and physical development.
  • Children flourish in a child-centred environment where activities are developmentally appropriate and classes are small
  • Every child should experience the joy and fun that learning music brings to life.
  • … And in community
    • A parent or loving caregiver is a child´s first and most important teacher
    • The home is the most important learning environment.

*For these reasons, we aim to provide parents / caregivers with the resources and materials to support and continue the musical experiences in their homes. What is learned and experienced first is best remembered. It is this early and repeated exposure, both in class and at home, that sets the stage for learning and enjoyment…never mind developing a fun and regular “practice” routine from an early age!

Music Literacy, Performance, & So Much More!

"For our shy wee boy Kindermusik has been a true helping hand. Apart from developing a love for music Lucas has improved his social and emotional skills. From sitting in a corner Lucas is now confident enough to interact with most people around him and really looks forward to his class. We are looking forward to the next term.
Many, many thanks." -Monica
Due to Covid-19, all group classes will be conducted via Zoom
- this will be reviewed for January 2021

All of MusicFirst NI's children's classes are conducted in our vibrant new facility on Botanic Ave. It has been built to purpose and packed with an extensive range of classroom instruments and resources. Parents can relax in the waiting area with tea and coffee making facilities and take the opportunity to observe the class in action or nip out for a bit - there's plenty to do.

Our Children's Department is run by fun-loving Ms. Becca Hopkins. With her in-depth musical knowledge and genuine connection with the children, she creates an energetic classroom by bringing music off the page and turning it into a holistic experience. A vetted and qualified music educator, she is a "Pied-Piper" of exceptional quality. The Children love her enthusiasm, her contagious love of music, and the personal attention they each receive. Parents love the afforded academic advantage over music classes in even the best primary schools and other "similar" programmes...as well as a bit of fun too!
